Dr Adlyn Adnan is an Irish-trained medical doctor who completed her speciality training in\u00a0Rehabilitation Medicine in Queensland.<\/p>\n
Dr Adnan has been practising Rehabilitation Medicine for 10 years and has been involved in\u00a0both public and private practice during her training. Her post graduate qualifications include\u00a0FAFRM (Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine) accredited by the\u00a0Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).<\/p>\n
She completed her rehabilitation medicine specialty training in several major Queensland\u00a0hospitals including Redcliffe Hospital, Brighton Rehabilitation Unit, Princess Alexandra\u00a0Hospital in the Spinal Injuries Unit (SIU), The Royal Brisbane and Women\u2019s Hospital\u00a0(RBWH) in the Geriatrics and Rehabilitation Unit (GARU) & St Vincent’s Kangaroo Point.<\/p>\n
Dr Adnan completed her pre-university studies in the United Kingdom before attending\u00a0medical school on a full government scholarship at the renowned Royal College Of\u00a0Surgeons Ireland (RCSI) in Dublin. She graduated in 2008 with Honours and went on to\u00a0complete her housemanship in the city’s largest teaching hospital, Beaumont Hospital,\u00a0Dublin. She relocated to Australia in 2009.<\/p>\n
As part of her junior training, Dr Adnan worked in\u00a0Emergency Medicine for 3 years at The Prince Charles Hospital (TPCH) and Mount Isa Base\u00a0Hospital.<\/p>\n
Dr Adnan has experience with all areas of rehabilitation including stroke \u00a0rehabilitation,\u00a0neurorehabilitation, orthogeriatric rehabilitation, musculoskeletal medicine, amputee\u00a0rehabilitation, brain and spinal injury rehabilitation, pain rehabilitation and reconditioning.<\/p>\n
Her special interests include stroke\/neurorehabilitation, amputee rehabilitation, orthogeriatric\u00a0rehabilitation and reconditioning.<\/p>\n
Dr Adnan is a Rehabilitation Medicine Consultant at North West Private Hospital in Everton Park and The Wesley Private Hospital in Auchenflower. She works closely with the multidisciplinary allied health teams within the North West Private Hospital Rehabilitation Day Unit and the Wesley Day Rehabilitation Centre.<\/p>\n
In addition, Dr Adnan provides services for Queensland Health at Brighton Health Campus and the Kallangur Satellite Health Centre.<\/p>\n

“When I used to work in Emergency medicine, I found myself always going back to patients records to find out how a patient I’d seen was doing, how they were recovering. I wanted to follow up with them and I would celebrate (quietly) with them when I saw they’d been discharged home. That’s when I knew I had to work in a specialty where I could be part of this process; not just dealing with them acutely and never seeing them again, but helping them get home, back to their lives, help their recovery from all aspects. This is why I chose rehabilitation medicine.”<\/p>\n
